The source that gave life to the Dream: The beginning of a great journey

On October 9, 2010, the Ukrainian school "Mriya" opened its doors in Barcelona for Ukrainian children temporarily or permanently residing abroad. This school was founded on the initiative of Svitlana Shkolnaya, a talented teacher who is not indifferent to the fate of Ukrainian children.

With the assistance of Meri Lich, President of the Casa Eslava Association, the Dzherelo Department of Ukraine was established in the association, which included Olga Dziuban, Svitlana Rumak and Svitlana Shkolnaya. The Ukrainian school "Mriya" was created on the basis of the activities of this department.

A source of knowledge and spirituality for the whole family

The school has become a center of cultural and spiritual life, a source of knowledge not only for students but also for their parents, Ukrainian immigrants in Catalonia. "Mriya" has become the realization of the parents' hopes to give their children the opportunity to learn their native language, the history of their people, and to touch the treasury of Ukrainian culture and spirituality. Enthusiastic teachers have come to the school, generously sharing their knowledge and love with the children. The children were drawn to Mriya like moths to the light. After all, at the school they not only gain knowledge, but also communicate with their friends, sing, dance and dream.

The first like-minded people and the flourishing of the teaching staff

The idea of creating the school and all the difficulties of its first year of operation were shared by like-minded people - Nadiya Federlein, Alla Surovtseva, Larysa Venglovska, Tetiana Sydir, and Mariana Kalytyka. In 2011, the school's teaching staff was enriched by young, creative, proactive teachers: Inna Androshchuk, Maria Gerasymenko, Halyna Seredyuk, Tetiana Dvoina, Natalia Polishchuk, and Halyna Stupak. It was at that time that our credo was born:

"Do good, do good, people! Plant gardens for your grandchildren! Raise and teach children, because we are now in another world, in another destiny... Let them not be hurt by our pain!"
